Abstract: End-to-end delay is one of the most important factors that impact VoIP
quality. We have studied the stochastic characteristics of the end-to-end delay measurements in
an overlay network owned by a network operator in Asia.
We developed a synthesis method based on the shifted gamma distribution, which fitted
the real end-to-end delay measurements well. We also proposed a method to synthesize new network delay trace based on the mean network delay of the trace.
